Apple iPod Touch

Several months now into my ownership and I can honestly say that I really, really like this device.  Actually it’s a year!!!

Ease of use and the vast application store are the main benefits for me.  The cost of the apps takes me back to my CPC 464 days when all games were under £3.

Ahh!  We had over 300 games for the Amstrad.  Compare that to the mere 6 I have for the PS3.  Mainly due to cost.  Taking into account inflation that’s still less than £7 compared to the £40 for the PS3.

I’ve even started loking at Youtube and facebook and stuff!  Wow! I can waste away my life like everyone else now!

I’ve downloaded (at an average price of less than 80p) 88 Apps now and some have been a little less useful and some superb.  I mean, the entirety of Myst on an iPod!  Every Google toy you could possibly wish – including my Work mail, calendars, chat and so forth.

Top Apps:

  • Games:
    • BMW F1
    • Brain Challenge
    • Draw Race
    • Flight Control
    • Let’s Golf
    • The Secret of Monkey Island (SE)

    • Sheep Stacker
  • Stuff
    • Galactica
    • Free Drum Pad
    • Koi Pond
    • Light Saber
    • Mini Piano

All good but I do spend most of my time on the first segment of games or in the Safari web browser.  Or simply listening to music or watching games.  Movies are excellent in this format – first thing i did on iTunes was download Bladerunner.

Downside?  Probably really waned an iPhone to handle my mobile usage but you can’t by everything.  Also there’s no Flash in the browser.  iTunes seriously over prices Audio Books – but then so does everybody.

4.75 stars out of 5.
