Facebook scam pages

I’ve seen a lot of these recently popping up and too many of my friends are being fooled for comfort.
So I’ve created a few rules you can use.

  • Only interact official pages with the blue tick
  • Be careful of similarly named fake pages
  • Be cautious when interacting (at all) with purported “regional” pages

Here’s a handy visual for you:

Note that although the “BBC One” page may be legitimate you should not trust it. BBC have a history, as can be seen here, of properly authenticating their accounts/pages. The fact that this page does not have the blue tick is suspicious.
Or careless by the BBC, either way – always err on the side of caution.
