Covid-19 Exposure Logging (Android & Apple)

Rumours of a hack or forced privacy breach are circulating. Talk of a COVID-19 tracker being forced on you without your consent or knowledge.

If you follow the instructions your will indeed find settings called “COVID-19 Exposure Logging” or “COVID-19 exposure notifications”.

These are just part of Apple’s / Google’s background work on their joint framework for contact tracing.
This came built into the iOS 13.5 and a app-push for Android.

It’s perfectly legit. Also, YOU are in control of this setting and it is off by default. Also it can only be utilised by approved applications, which YOU are will have to install.

If you are concerned about such settings “suddenly” appearing on your phone, it is worth going to these settings and reading through the privacy notices attached.
