Day 016: Marathon Man

Is it safe? Not to watch this movie if you don’t like the dentist.
When his brother is murdered a university student is drawn into the dangerous and lethal games and intrigues of a Nazi fugitive, those trying to catch him and those trying to aid him.
The script is astonishing and the naive student against the weathered criminal is so powerfully and believed played that the movie is all the more disturbing in places.
Things to look out for: obviously the dental torture, superbly chilling Laurence Olivier, brotherly love (or is it interference?), trying to figure out the good guys from the bad (or is it just shades of grey?)
Released: 1976
Certificate: 18
Cast: Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Olivier, Roy Scheider, Marthe Keller
Rating: disturbing and powerful drama superbly played, highly recommended
